With the world-changing, every day and the expectations of the user’s increasing, it is essential to keep yourself upgraded. As a designer, it’s even more crucial to keep yourself updated with the changing trends. There are tons of similar content as yours over the internet. So to bring the attraction towards your content, it’s essential that you can deliver something different from the rest. This will help your website stand out and have the audience stick to your content. While things are constantly changing, it is tough to keep up.

To help you with the same, we have listed some of the trends that have made a mark in this year and will continue in the coming year as well.

Dark Mode

One of the trendiest web designs for the year 2020 is the dark mode. Big brands like Instagram, Apple, etc., gave their users an alternative to the light mode for their productions. However, it was something that was around previously, as well. But with the giant companies picking it up, it became even more desirable. Some of the core reasons behind the dark mode becoming a trend are as well follows:

Ultra-modern

The dark mode appears to be super modern.

Highlights Other Elements

If the background is dark, other elements of the website tend to pop out and look better to the viewers.

Saves Battery

The dark background consumes lesser battery that the white backgrounds.

Lesser Eye Strains

With only a few things popping in the website, you only have to concentrate over a few things. This further reduces the eye strains.

Incomplete Structure

Uniquely, the incomplete and freehand web designing actually tend to encourage positive emotions in people. The freehand structure of the website content helps in creating an aesthetic look for the website. However, it depends on the purpose of the website, but users in general positively accept the hand-drawn and imperfect version as they express humanity and personality.

The more unique your freehand is, the more accepting your audience will be. This tendency stands apart from the pixel-perfect web elements. Further provides exclusivity to your brand.

3D Elements

People have always been fascinated with the 3D Elements in a website. And it has further increased in this year and the upcoming year. With the new elements being added every time, it does look like the trend for 3D elements is not going to go anywhere anytime soon.

Besides, the 3D trend allows the UX/UI Designers to make their websites more appealing. The more creatively interactive your 3D elements, the more time will the user spend on it. One of the most important things to remember while implementing 3D elements on the website is to ensure that it does not slow down the response part. If you have 3D elements, but it loads too slow or affects the responsiveness of the website, it could also drive the users away from your content.

soft shadows and floating elements

Soft Shadows and Floating Elements

Another design that has been around this year is the floating elements and the soft shadows. It could be called an alternative to the 3D elements. You can have a picture representing your product and have a soft shadow around it. It not restricted to just pictures. You can choose to go to texts, videos, etc.

This year, many UX/UI Design companies have experimented with this idea, and it has worked out pretty well. It creates a lightweight feeling and shows an enhanced depth.

Going beyond illustrations

Going beyond illustrations

Another hot topic for the UX/UI Design trend that is going to continue in the coming year as well, is the mix of graphics with photographs. It’s a mix and match technique that allows the designers to have a collage with the pictures and add some graphic elements to it.

This trend adds a personality to the website and further enhances the aesthetics of the viewers.

Aesthetic Product Pictures

Gone are the days when people fell for real product pictures. While all your viewers still want the realistic pictures of the products, but it needs to be aesthetic as well. As a UX/UI Designer, you’d be expected to have some pleasing pictures of the products on the website and the right way to present them to the audience as well.

Textures

Textures

After years of changing trends, the textures are making a comeback amongst the audience. The trend for having the textures has shown great potential within the audience and is likely to on a long way. Having a great and pleasant texture in the visuals of the website will help the users to stick for a more extended period than usual.

As a UX/UI Designer, you’d need to build the website as per the theme that you or your client are looking forward to providing visuals for.

Microcopy

These days it is not enough to have the right product to sell. The users want to feel like they are a part of the brand and expect the perfect post-selling service. The users want to know everything that they can about the company, from its history to its uniqueness.

As a UX/UI Designer, it’d be your responsibility to keep the audience engaged to the website for as long as possible. The first step towards this is to ensure that the website interactions with the audience are similar to the human interactions. This means that you may get a little informal and even quirky if needed.

You must know that the users are bored with the same old messages that all the websites use. It would help if you stood out. So when you are building your website, make sure that you add a bit of humour in the text or the visuals that you are presenting. But don’t go too far.

Conclusion

In the end, it all comes down to the way you implement your ideas and how well you know your audience. With the upcoming generation, they keep looking forward to having new experiences and keeping your website content upgraded will ensure that they stay engaged. But it would help if you also remembered that these things do not hamper your creativity. You can always choose to go above and beyond, and you can set a new trend. But make sure you are not over-doing anything!
